The transit fleet maintenance facility was designed to meet the community of Regina’s transit needs

The City of Regina (CoR) needed a new fleet maintenance facility to accommodate the current and future expansion of the City’s bus fleet. But—to accommodate future growth—additional storage space for the buses was also required. A key component of the design was to have all the services on one site to allow the City to increase their operational efficiency.

As part of the planning process, we considered how the new transit fleet maintenance facility (TFMF) would have a positive impact on the overall operations, how the increased mixed traffic flow would need to be accommodated on the site, and how the existing transit operation center (TOC) could remain in full operation with minimal disruption during the construction period.

Repair bays were designed with integrated bus lifts and fluid dispensing systems to allow for safe and efficient bus servicing. The bays are also arranged around a central corridor to allow for easy transport of spares from the central storage and office building. The central portion of the building includes office space with locker rooms, but the main function of this area is for storage for parts for the bus fleet. The new facility is designed to accommodate a large range of bus sizes including future articulated buses.
